“Progress becomes a salvation theme that places the human at the center of reflection. The past and present are placed in a sequential and irreversible time that can be ordered to effect change. Rodin’s Thinker symbolizes this centering of change as a problem of humanity and the idea of human agency in planning of change.” (Popkewitz, 2014, p.7)

This quote form Popkewitz’s the Social Epistemology, article really made me think about the position I am in at the present moment. I love to think that I have always made the best choices but of course that is not true. Reflecting from the moment I am in right now, busy, crazy busy, with too much to read and way too much to write, I wonder I have made a bad choice by deciding to do a master’s program at this crazy busy time in my life. When I pause to think though, I realize that in the present moment I am okay, I am doing the best that I can in the present. I can’t think too far ahead to the deadlines or too far back and regret not doing more when I had more time. I can only react from the moment I am in right now, and tomorrow, I can only do the same. I believe that this program was the right choice for me and the reason I believe it is because it is the experience I am living right now. One of the most influential books I have ever read was Eckhart Tolle’s (2005) A New Earth. He said this:
“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.” (Tolle, 2005)
So because I am on this path I will continue to walk it. Learning theories and research are my life at the moment and both feel right to me. The more I research about learning theories the more I understand and can make sense of the teaching and learning processes I chose in the past. The more I research about learning theories the more I learn about myself and what is ahead of me on the path to becoming better than I was before at both learning and teaching.
